PAS WON

I predicted that PAS would win the by- election for Kuala Terengganu which ended at 5.00 on Saturday 17 January, 2009. I was right. My prediction materialized and PAS supporters were overjoyed and celebrated the win parading the city in cars and motorbikes waving PAS flags. By winning the by-election, the opposition has been given a major boost and seriously undermined the ruling coalition, the BN. After the bashing at the hands of PAS, political analysts continue to underscore the importance for BN to change its ways or risk losing it all.

Thanks to Ezam and TV3. They contributed tremendously towards making PAS win the by-election. They have been painting pictures which were different from what the people have been watching in reality. The people did not like this. The by-election points to endemic problems in BN, which are only likely to continue as the blame game has begun. The pot calling the kettle black.

It clearly shows that UMNO or Barisan Nasional is no longer seen as the only political party that dominates the state. The people are sending a very clear signal to the ruling BN that they can no longer fool around and lavishly spend the people’s money the way they like. The people are aware of all the misdeeds by the government.

I am afraid, if the BN big guns still maintain the style and go around behaving the way they have been doing, the BN will certainly parish from the Malaysian political scene after the next general election. The BN is facing a bleak future. Despite the signals, the leaders continue to be in denial. The BN government and the media have been making a fool of themselves when they foolishly attacked the PR as if the PR was so bad in the eyes of the people. The people do not like that kind of tactics. It certainly brought up anger among the PR's supporters. The BN should do away with that kind of tactics in the future. Fair play is the key to it. Negative reporting is definitely bad for the ruling BN. Radical changes, and possibly even a political surgery, must be carried out to bring back the wow factor, says Muhyiddin yassin, an UMNO vice-president.

Not only the educated citizens but also the laymen of Malaysia cannot accept negative reporting. The media can no longer fool this kind of people. They will resort to alternative media rather than depending on the government sponsored media.

Reporters should not give their comments when reporting. The people want to have the privilege of commenting themselves, for the decision to judge whether a certain thing is right or wrong should be in their hands (listeners and readers), not the reporters.

The people of Kuala Terengganu is generally against the Monsoon Cup. It is of no use and meaningless to them. They were also badly hurt when the BN government stopped paying the petrol royalty when PAS came to power. They felt that they had been pushed around by the BN government. So, they have been waiting for the chance to teach the BN a lesson for quite some time before they could do so during the last by election.

Well, everyone in the opposition's ambition of seizing power has been given a major boost with a by-election win that observers said today seriously undermined the ruling coalition BN should be scared of the next general election. By then Najib is already the Prime Minister. I suppose the PR cannot wait to see what will happen to the BN after that election. Let us all wait and see. God willing, anything can happen.

A friend of mine in Kota Bharu sent me an SMS today which says, “NIAT MENGUNDI: Sahaja aku masuk barisan untuk pangkah bulan kerana keadilan”(VOTING OATH: I purposely joint the queue to choose the moon for justice). The SMS says it all and the by election proved it right.

Now, I would like to make another prediction: Whoever takes over UMNO is going to witness its downfall. Nothing can stop it. UMNO's days are numbered, except Allah wants it otherwise.
